Warehouse Complex, Estate Donoe

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands

This project entailed the construction of 5 new pre-engineered warehouse buildings of 6,000 s.f. each. The significant complexity and challenge of this project lay within its sitework. The existing topography of the site was significantly sloped and varied, while the warehouse functions demanded a highly controlled and minimally sloped environment to facilitate access, loading, and unloading. This resulted in the placement and construction of significant concrete retaining walls throughout the site, along with thoughtfully placed stormwater controls and utility connections. Representing an additional difficulty, a major regional stormwater gully was accommodated at the site’s north end.  The resulting overall site layout synthesized all of these constraints so that heavy trucks hauling their oversized loads and 40’ containers could easily navigate onto the site and ease and off-load their cargos efficiently, right up to their designated warehouse building.
