Classroom & Office Building

A new 2-story wood-framed building in Historic Downtown Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI with office areas on the ground floor and classrooms on the second floor. The ground floor exterior wall is part of a much older building that was left derelict for many years and has been refurbished, strengthened and included in the new building, along with many typical Carribean details such as the operable shutters, sidewalk arcade & vibrant coloring, to integrate the building with its surroundings. The building has been designed to safely weather major storms and hurricanes. Plans for additional classrooms and offices are awaiting additional funding.

Princeton U-Store - Emblematic Store

In association with JGA (Southfield, MI), two neighboring retail buildings on Nassau St. were transformed into the new 10,000 square foot Princeton U-Store, Emblamatic Store. In order to accomplish this, new wall openings were created in the exterior walls to connect the two buildings. In addition, new Focal Areas were created in alignment with these wall openings to provide continuity between the spaces.

Renovation of an existing Nassau St. retail building to house the new 16,000 square foot Labyrinth Books store. One key project feature was the addition of skylights and improved lighting on the first floor to open the space up and provide a light, airy environment. Also included in the project was the expansion of the retail space into the basement storage zone utilizing new stairs & an elevator for improved access.

This St. Croix vacation villa makes the most of its spectacular location with 180 degree views over the Caribbean Sea & Salt River Bay. Attention to detail is the hallmark of this project with extensive time spent on such features as the metal railing design, the configuration of the pool and deck to shelter it from the prevailing trade winds, the design of the floor tile pattern to add diversity to large spaces and the stepped profile to integrate the house into its hillside location.

Project features included improved sight lines for operational supervision, multiple phased delivery for continual operation and redundancy and new ceiling and lighting configurations to eliminate previous glare and eyestrain conditions.

A new 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operational control center with ergonomic support for users and extensive network support facilities. The project included adjacent administrative spaces and back-of-house server and equipment rooms.

Verizon Work Centers

The Work Center facility provides a base for work crews which maintain telephone infrastructure. Typical Work Centers are comprised of Administrative, Vehicle Maintenance & Storage components averaging 12,000 s.f. in total. The site is configured to handle parking for 100 personal vehicles, 40 company trucks and storage areas for cable reels, utility poles, etc. Silverberg Associates has both designed new Work Centers and reconfigured existing facilites for Verizon.

Renovation of an existing space for a research laboratory and adjacent office space. A key project component was integration of walk-in freezers with the laboratory central corridor to allow for greater flexibility.

Security Building

New one story building combining employee secure-entrance turnstiles, visitor waiting areas, and a guard room with remote monitoring capabilities. A continuous canopy at all sides provides shading at windows and a covered walk area, while colored accent blocks enliven the facade. Future plans include solar panels on the roof connected to the building power systems and to rechargeable electric vehicles for use on Johanna Foods property.
