The Marine Terminal Building occupies a key location within the Limetree Bay Terminal facility located on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Heavily damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017, this fully renovated 4-story, 11,000 s.f. facility serves as an administrative center for Marine Operations at the terminal. The building is to be stripped to its original bare steel frame and foundations and reinforced and recrafted, including all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Due to its exposed and vulnerable location, yet its need to maintain good views of surrounding marine operations, all elements of the building have been thoroughly reassessed and upgraded for more robust resistance to hurricane force winds and rain. The metal yellow building panels enhance the building’s visibility to incoming ships and pay homage to the terminal’s harbor pilots who call the building home.
