Princeton University Campus Store, 2021 Renovation

Princeton, New Jersey

The project represented a complex renovation of 10,600 s.f. of existing retail space on two floors of Princeton University’s campus store.  The project intent was to provide a face-lift of the existing space, add new retail functions within that existing space, and craft new, additional retail space.  Former basement rough storage space was transformed into upscale retail space.   In addition to a multi-phased project implementation, the project scope entailed a significant relocation of basement utilities and the challenging insertion of a new open stairwell into the building’s structural steel framework.   Resolving building code issues required some sophisticated problem-solving.  A multitude of diverse participants had to be successfully coordinated within the design and construction phases on a tight timeframe.  Throughout all of the renovation work, the University Store continued its retail operations.   The completed project opened on schedule, and has been extremely well received by all parties, including the store’s current and long-term customers.
