Proposed new 2-story, 37,000 s.f. office building with basement level to house government administrative offices on St. Croix. Features include a Commons atrium space, multiple flexible meeting spaces with controlled public access, support spaces, and varied office types for multiple departments with appropriate proximities to one another. Design features include louvered solar shading at all windows, a first floor covered exterior arcade, outdoor seating / eating areas, cisterns to fully serve the building’s potable water needs, and a hardened hurricane shelter area. Ground mounted solar collectors are proposed on the site to supplement the building’s power needs. The building’s construction is proposed as steel framing with local shop-fabricated, pre-insulated, precast concrete panels, along with a standing seam metal roof.
