Tropical Shipping Office

After it’s destruction by Hurricane Maria, Tropical Shipping sought to rebuild a new, improved administrative office facility at the St. Croix Containerport.  This new freestanding 3000 s.f. building houses Tropical’s offices and customer service functions.   The new design is a tight fit onto the existing lot where the old building used to stand, and successfully re-establishing all of the previous utility connections posed its own unique challenges.   Deploying a “Lessons Learned” strategy, the building has been constructed to be more robust than its predecessor in the face of hurricane forces and waterfront storm surge, and more resilient to support its operations and personnel when power and water may not be available for prolonged periods of time.  The building has been made fully ADA accessible, and provides a comfortable, clean, upbeat, secured environment, be it within the customer waiting / service area, office area, break room, or large conference room area.
